Marc Haushofer to Head International Business Development at VIG Re
Prague-headquartered reinsurer VIG Re has announced that Marc Haushofer will join the company as its executive director of international business development, effective May 1, 2025.
Haushofer brings over 40 years of experience in the (re)insurance sector to the role. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, at RenaissanceRe.
Prior to that, Haushofer was Executive Vice President & CEO, Asia Pacific, at Validus Re, where he was responsible for establishing and leading the Singapore branch. He also chaired the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) from 2017 until the end of 2024.
Additionally, Haushofer has held positions as CEO and Principal Officer of Munich Re Singapore and a deputy member of the executive management team at Munich Re in Munich. “Marc’s expertise will be invaluable in strengthening VIG Re’s international footprint,” VIG Re stated.
Notably, Haushofer played a key role in the success of the Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC), a prominent event in the (re)insurance industry often compared to the World Economic Forum. The SIRC is organized by the SRA, and Haushofer’s impact on its development is widely acknowledged.
In 2023, Haushofer received the Singapore Institute of Banking and Finance Distinguished Fellow Award in General Insurance. He has also served as a judge for the Asia Insurance Industry Awards, which are organized by the Asia Insurance Review, a leading publication in the region.
VIG Re, established in 2008, is a major reinsurer in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and is expanding its presence in continental Europe and Asia. The reinsurer is part of the Vienna Insurance Group, which is Austria’s largest international insurance group.
