Marsh has announced the appointment of Adam Russell as head of global wholesale, effective immediately. This newly created role signifies a strategic shift designed to bolster the company’s global wholesale insurance broking operations and improve worldwide client access.
Russell will oversee various aspects of the firm’s global wholesale insurance broking operations, including portfolio solutions. He will report to John Donnelly, president of global placement at Marsh, and will continue to be based in London. His core objective will be to advance Marsh’s global wholesale and facultative business, working closely with teams internally to support clients through a range of placement capabilities and advisory services.
Russell’s most recent position was head of strategy, global placement, a role he assumed in December 2023. His tenure at Marsh began in 2014, during which he has held several senior leadership roles. He previously led Marsh’s international wholesale placement operations in Singapore and later became Placement Leader for Marsh Asia’s retail business in 2018. In 2022, Russell moved to London to head the UK Portfolio Solutions and Digital Placement teams.
Marsh also announced that Charlotte Meah will succeed Russell as head of strategy, global placement. Meah, who is based in Atlanta and also reports to Donnelly, has been with Marsh since 2013, initially as a senior advisor in the risk consulting business. Most recently, she served as chief of staff for Marsh Specialty & Global Placement.
According to John Donnelly, consolidating the company’s wholesale capabilities under Russell’s leadership is intended to provide clients with consistent access to suitable markets and solutions around the world.
This appointment is the second major advancement for the global broker this month. Earlier, Marsh appointed Amy Barnes as global head of energy & power as the industry steps up its support for the net zero transition. In her new role, Barnes will oversee strategy and innovation for Marsh’s global network of energy and power advisors, risk engineers, and brokers. Barnes will also continue her responsibilities as head of climate and sustainability strategy at Marsh.
