Mercury Insurance has announced the second season of its Community Rockstars program, a collaboration with iHeartRadio to recognize community heroes in San Diego. The program, held at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, honors individuals who make significant contributions through volunteer work, education, and philanthropy.
Program Details and Expansion
The initiative, now in its second year, follows the recognition of 10 exceptional individuals in 2024. Erik Thompson, VP and chief marketing officer of Mercury Insurance, stated, “Through our partnership with the North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, we’re shining a spotlight on those who go the extra mile and have an outsized impact on their local communities.” The company has also commissioned a mural by world-renowned artist Nigel Sussman for the Mercury Sunset Deck at the amphitheater, incorporating references to over 20 popular songs.
Community Engagement and Recognition
Concert attendees who identify the musical references in the mural and share their findings on social media using #MercuryMusic may win tickets to future shows. Community members can nominate local heroes through the iHeartRadio website. Selected nominees will receive concert tickets, recognition on the venue’s video screens, VIP parking, and a $200 Visa gift card. The 2025 program includes partnerships with social media influencers, such as @SDFoodies, to highlight community rockstars.
