Montana Considers PTSD Coverage for First Responders
Montana is taking steps to assist its first responders. Lawmakers are currently reviewing a bill that could provide workers’ compensation benefits to certain first responders dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Under Senate Bill 394, introduced recently, first responders could be eligible for compensation if diagnosed with PTSD. This is provided the condition is directly linked to their work duties.
The bill defines eligible first responders as firefighters, law enforcement officers, and employees of county detention centers or prisons. It also covers anyone else authorized to respond to emergencies in a professional capacity.
