Nord Security, the company known for its VPN and password management services has released NordProtect as a standalone service in the United States. This service, launched in 2024, offers comprehensive identity theft protection and insurance, now accessible without a NordVPN subscription.
The identity theft protection includes up to $1 million in identity theft recovery, up to $50,000 in cyber extortion protection, and up to $10,000 in online fraud coverage. These features aim to provide users with a robust defense against various online threats.
NordProtect monitors the dark web and alerts users if their information, such as email addresses, Social Security numbers, and phone numbers, appear in hacker forums. In addition, the service provides credit monitoring, notifying users of any unusual changes in their credit scores that might be indicative of fraudulent activity.
According to Tomas Sinicki, managing director of NordProtect, “Criminals are constantly finding new ways to extort money from people, and our mission is to provide relevant and reliable tools to protect internet users. Online fraud is rapidly growing, with numerous variations leading to significant financial losses.”
Sinicki added, “To address this, we’ve expanded our existing services, which now include better monitoring of personally identifiable information as well as reimbursement for certain online fraud incidents, ensuring our customers receive support when they need it most.”
The standalone NordProtect service is currently available exclusively for US customers, with an introductory 50% discount, bringing the annual cost down to $89.88.
