LONDON, March 20, 2025 – NordProtect, the identity theft protection service developed by NordVPN, has been released as a standalone product for users in the United States. This allows consumers to access identity theft protection without needing a full NordVPN Prime plan, as was previously required.
Furthermore, NordProtect now includes online fraud coverage, designed to assist victims of various online scams. This coverage provides financial reimbursement for losses incurred through schemes such as romance scams, marketplace fraud, QR code scams, and unauthorized credit card charges, among others. These are increasingly common tactics used to defraud individuals today.

- Identity Recovery and Restoration: Victims of identity theft can be reimbursed up to $1 million for expenses related to restoring their identity, such as legal fees or lost wages, and are connected with a case manager for assistance.
- Cyber Extortion Protection: Offers up to $50,000 to cover expert aid and payments in response to cyber threats that involve the deletion or release of a victim’s personal data, or restricting access to their data or smart devices.
- Secure Credit Monitoring: Provides customers with a monthly credit score and alerts them to any suspicious credit activity.
- 24/7 Dark Web Monitoring: Alerts users if their email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, or other personal information appear on the dark web.
Currently, NordProtect is only available to users in the United States. In the United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Sweden, Germany, and Italy, NordVPN offers cyber insurance benefits as part of its service bundles. These benefits include scam loss recovery and online shopping fraud recovery.
