NordVPN Unveils NordProtect to Combat Identity Theft
NordVPN’s parent company has introduced NordProtect, a new service designed to shield users from various forms of identity theft. The service offers a suite of features, including identity recovery and restoration, secure credit monitoring, 24/7 dark web monitoring, and cyber extortion protection.

NordProtect includes tools to protect users from identity theft.
The identity recovery and restoration component is particularly noteworthy, offering reimbursement of up to $1 million for expenses, such as legal fees or lost wages, incurred while restoring an identity compromised by theft. Secure credit monitoring provides users with a monthly credit score and alerts them to any suspicious activity. Dark web monitoring, another key feature, scans the dark web to notify users if their credentials, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, or other personal details have been compromised and leaked.
According to Tomas Sinicki, managing director of NordProtect, “Identity theft is a global problem, and its frequency is on the rise, which is why enhancing current features and adding new tools to NordProtect is a continuous effort.” Sinicki also noted that NordVPN began working in this area in late 2023 with the launch of cyber protection options in the US and Europe. The company plans to expand NordProtect to more markets and offer it as a standalone product in the first half of 2025.
Data indicates a significant rise in identity theft. Consumer Affairs reports that identity theft cases have risen by nearly 382% over two decades, with Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Ohio experiencing the most significant increases in the last five years. Further data reveals that people in their thirties report identity theft more often than any other age group.
NordProtect is accessible within the Prime plan, which costs $7.89 per month. Existing users of other plans will need to upgrade.
