China’s Insurance Intermediary Count Continues Downward Trend
The number of insurance intermediaries in China has declined for the sixth year in a row, according to the National Financial Supervision Administration (NFSA).
On March 17, the NFSA released its 2024 list of professional insurance intermediaries. The list included 2,539 entities at the end of 2024, a decrease of 27 from the previous year. This marks a consistent decrease since 2019.

This ongoing decline suggests a shift in the insurance market landscape. Several factors could be contributing to this trend, including market reforms, the impact of technology, and potential consolidation within the industry.
