Ontario Regulator Warns Consumers About Unlicensed Hero Life Insurance

TORONTO, March 12, 2025 – The Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Ontario has issued a warning to consumers regarding Hero Life Insurance, a company allegedly selling insurance products without the necessary licenses to operate within the province.

FSRA is strongly advising consumers to avoid purchasing insurance policies from Hero Life Insurance or any policies arranged through the company. Purchasing insurance from unlicensed entities leaves consumers unprotected under the Insurance Act.

Reports received by FSRA indicate that representatives of Hero Life Insurance are contacting consumers via phone and email, promoting life and health insurance products. Some reports suggest that these sales representatives are falsely presenting themselves as licensed insurance agents authorized to operate in Ontario, and pressure consumers to share their personal and confidential information.

Hero Life Insurance appears to be using the following contact details:

    • Phone: 1-844-790-1253
    • Address: 2235 Sheppard Avenue East, Suite 1200, Toronto, Ontario, M2J 2B5
    • Website: https://www.herolifeinsurance.ca
    • Emails: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

If you believe you have been a victim of fraud involving Hero Life Insurance, contact your local police department immediately.

It is important to note that Hero Life Insurance is not affiliated with InsuranceHero.ca. InsuranceHero.ca is a licensed independent brokerage operating in Ontario and is licensed through the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO). Consumers can verify the licensing credentials of InsuranceHero.ca on RIBO’s website; their license number is 3856.

The FSRA urges consumers to conduct thorough research. They can consult the FSRA’s website to make informed decisions when engaging with insurance agents or insurers in Ontario, and can also refer to RIBO’s website for a comprehensive list of all RIBO-licensed insurance brokers.

FSRA remains committed to safeguarding the financial interests of all stakeholders, including consumers, by ensuring financial safety, fairness, and choice.
