A hooded gunman opened fire on the Oregon home of an insurance company CEO, who had recently received an alarming email. The email included the addresses of other employees and their loved ones, according to the CEO.
The attack occurred at approximately 4 a.m. Friday when the suspect sprayed SAIF CEO Chip Terhune’s residence in Lake Oswego, just outside of Portland, with multiple rounds. The gunfire shattered the home’s glass front door, as reported by KATU.

Surveillance footage released by the police on Wednesday revealed the gunman wearing “all dark clothes with a possible hoodie or ski mask” and carrying a “light-colored object.”
Later reports indicated that the suspect, believed to have escaped in a nearby vehicle, remained at large as of Thursday. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting. The incident comes just months after UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside a New York City hotel.
Terhune sent an email to SAIF’s more than 1,000 employees. SAIF is a not-for-profit organization in Oregon providing workers’ compensation insurance. “We have received an email threat purporting to be from the person(s) responsible,” Terhune informed staff. The email, he indicated, referenced knowledge of employee and relatives’ names and addresses, though it did not target any specific employee.

Terhune stated he was cooperating with law enforcement and urged employees to report any safety concerns they might have. “Law enforcement is working diligently to investigate this matter and asked that we not share any additional specific information about the actual email,” he said.

In December, UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot outside a New York City hotel. The suspected shooter, Luigi Mangione — a 26-year-old Ivy League graduate, pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of murder, including murder as an act of terrorism, over the brazen slaying.
