San Antonio Pets Are Well-Protected, Report Says
San Antonio is home to some of the most protected pets in the United States, according to a recent report from Embrace Pet Insurance. The Ohio-based pet health insurance provider released its 2024 report, which analyzed the top pet names, breeds, and insurance claim trends based on the 1.2 million claims processed last year.

Along with Ewa Beach and Honolulu in Hawaii, San Antonio is listed among the top zip codes for insured pets. Embrace Pet Insurance did not specify which San Antonio zip code had the highest number of insured pets.
Common Claims and Breeds
The most frequent pet insurance claims last year were for allergies, diarrhea, and osteoarthritis. The highest individual claim reached $41,339 for a Rhodesian Ridgeback diagnosed with pancreatitis and a gastrointestinal ulcer.
For dogs, the top three breeds insured by Embrace were mixed breeds, Labrador Retrievers, and Golden Retrievers. Mixed breeds, Maine Coons, and Siamese cats topped the list for cat breeds.
The most popular name for both cats and dogs was Luna.
