Stewart Title Insurance Co. and Stewart Title Guaranty Company, both subsidiaries of Stewart Information Services Corp., have merged in New York to form Stewart Title Guaranty Company (STGC). The merger is described by the company as a strategic move to enhance its offerings and better serve its customers by leveraging its financial strength. According to Fred Eppinger, CEO of Stewart, operating as STGC in New York will allow the company to access its full underwriting power and increased financial stability, thereby improving its ability to underwrite transactions of all sizes, including larger and more complex ones. The combined entity has joined the Title Insurance Rate Service Association (TIRSA) and adopted the New York Policy and Endorsement forms, further aligning with industry standards. Eppinger emphasized that the merger is part of Stewart’s goal to become the Premier Title Services Company, allowing it to offer a consistent level of service across the country with expanded capabilities. The merger will not affect the existing leadership and employees, ensuring continuity and maintaining the high standards expected by customers and clients.
