Sun Life Financial Inc. has announced the appointment of Bennet Li as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Asia. Li, who has been serving as the interim CFO since September 2024, will now officially lead the financial operations for Sun Life across the Asian region.
Reporting to both Tim Deacon, Executive Vice President and CFO, and Manjit Singh, President of Sun Life Asia, Li will be responsible for overseeing financial strategies, operational processes, and capital allocation throughout Asia. His primary goal will be to advance the finance strategic objectives to foster growth and maximize long-term shareholder value in the region.
Li’s tenure with Sun Life dates back to 2002. During his time with the company, he has held leadership positions in Finance, Actuarial, and Group Benefits and Retirement Services across both Asia and Canada. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Head of Strategic Finance, and Country Manager for Mainland China.
Based at Sun Life’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong, Li will join the Asia Executive Team. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries.
