Travelers is currently trading slightly below its all-time high of $269.55, which it reached on October 18, 2024. The stock is 4.8% below that peak. Recent performance has been positive. Over the preceding three months, TRV stock increased by 3.6%, surpassing the Invesco KBW Property & Casualty Insurance ETF (KBWP), which saw a minor decrease of 34 basis points during the same time.

    Long-Term Performance

Travelers’ performance appears even more impressive over a longer timeframe. Over the past six months, TRV stock surged by 7.4%, and over the past 52 weeks, it gained 17.5%. This performance exceeds KBWP’s 4.2% and 15.5% gains over the same respective periods.

Notably, Travelers has consistently traded above its 200-day moving average for the past year and has remained above its 50-day moving average since late February. The company’s Q4 results, released on January 22, further boosted investor confidence.

    Q4 Earnings and Revenue

Following the release of its Q4 results, which showcased strong financial performance, Travelers Companies’ stock prices increased by 3.2%. This positive impact resulted from robust premium inflows, strong underwriting margins, and high net investment income.

Travelers experienced a year-over-year increase of 7.5% in net written premiums, reaching $10.7 billion. Total revenues grew by 9.9% year-over-year, exceeding $12 billion, which surpassed analysts’ expectations at the time. Furthermore, the company’s core income saw a substantial increase of 30.2% year-over-year, reaching $2.1 billion, while its core income per share of $9.15 exceeded consensus estimates by 39.3%.

    Comparison With Competitors

Over the past six months, Travelers has also outperformed its competitor Chubb Limited (CB), which saw a 66-basis-point uptick, while marginally lagging behind CB’s 17.7% gains over the past year.
