Protecting Your Home: Understanding Insurance Coverage and Risk Management

When disaster strikes, knowing what’s covered by your homeowner’s insurance can be crucial to recovering from damages. Recent changes in insurance costs and coverage have left many homeowners questioning their policies, particularly those living in areas prone to natural disasters. In response to these concerns, Larimer County Assessor Bob Overbeck is urging homeowners to attend an upcoming webinar sponsored by United Policyholders.

The Colorado Home Insurance Shopping Help Webinar, scheduled for 5 p.m. on June 18, aims to provide property owners with valuable insights into homeowners insurance, risk management, and coverage-related issues. Overbeck emphasized the importance of this webinar, stating, “This webinar will be beneficial for property owners, providing them with valuable insights into homeowners insurance, risk management, and information on coverage-related issues.”

The webinar is an informal, online discussion where homeowners can share their experiences and problem-solve with trained volunteers about insurance issues and potential solutions they might encounter after an emergency. United Policyholders, the nonprofit organization behind the webinar, was formed in 1991 to help level the playing field between homeowners and insurers.

Homeowners in Larimer County can reserve a spot for the webinar at https://uphelp.org/events/2025-co-r2p/. This event is particularly relevant for those living in areas with a higher risk of wildfires or other disasters, as recent increases in insurance rates have highlighted the need for better understanding of insurance coverage.
