VIG Re has announced the appointment of Viktor Faucret as Managing Director of VIG Re France, along with the head of Western Europe for its treaty non-life business unit. The move underscores the company’s strategic focus on expanding its presence and operations in Western Europe.
Faucret, who has been with VIG Re since 2017, brings considerable experience in underwriting to his new role. Before taking the helm as Managing Director and Head of Western Europe, Faucret served as underwriting manager for France and the BeNeLux region from April 2022 to September 2024. Prior to this, he was a senior treaty underwriter and also worked as a treaty underwriter in VIG Re’s Paris office.
Faucret’s background also includes over four years at Gen Re, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., where he held positions as a Facultative Underwriter and an Underwriter Trainee. His academic qualifications include a master’s degree in management with a focus in finance and business administration from NEOMA Business School, along with a licence in economics, finance, and statistics obtained from Faculté de Gestion, Economie & Sciences. He also is a holder of a Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Faucret has been a member of the Non-Life Committee at APREF (Association des Professionnels de la Réassurance en France) since 2019. His diverse background also includes service as a second lieutenant in the French Army, where he completed cadet training at ESM St-Cyr & EC Saumur and the Foreign Legion.
VIG Re has positioned Faucret’s appointment as part of a larger initiative to bolster its brand and strengthen its operations throughout Western Europe. This announcement follows another recent appointment: Hong-Wha Ling as the company’s newly created chief people officer. Ling will lead strategic HR initiatives that will strengthen the company’s culture, promote inclusion, and encourage innovation—all to support VIG Re’s long-term growth and resilience. At his appointment, Ling said his focus would be on reinforcing the company’s people management framework to attract and retain top talent, thus enhancing employee engagement.
The creation of the chief people officer role aligns with VIG Re’s achievement of a Great Place to Work certification in 2024, demonstrating the company’s commitment to its employees and workplace environment.
